2 locations for My Pictures

This has been bugging me no end. I'd really like my pictures in one
location, and as a result have saved pictures in both the Desktop location
and in Docs and Settings.

I've finally come to the conclusion that the pics in the Desktop folder are
the ones that form the slideshow screensaver and the Docs and Settings
folder is where I should have ALL of my pictures saved.

Am I correct? If so, I'll start the migration.....

Thanks,
Lois

What is the name of the folder on the desktop? How did you place this
folder on the desktop?

If no changes have been made in the original XP folder structure, My
Pictures will be a subfolder of My Documents. My Documents (bringing My
Pictures along with it) appears in many places throughout Windows but all
appearances lead back to the same location:
C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\My Documents

If on the other hand, you've created a desktop folder and use it to store
pictures, these will be separate from the content of the My Pictures
folder.

My Pictures Slideshow screensaver: This screensaver is originally set to
show images in the My Pictures folder. Using Display Properties>
Screensaver> Settings, one can point the screensaver at any folder
containing image files.

Generally speaking, you don't want to ever place an actual file on the
desktop. Reserve the desktop for shortcuts to files that reside elsewhere -
such as in your "My Documents" folder.
