Each start up of Windows XP results in a screen that does a checkdsk
function unless I hit the "delete" key imediatly when the screen appears. I
have checked the "C" drive and the second Hard Drive with no problems shown.

Hi,
Click start/run and type cmd, then click ok. From the prompt, type:
chkntfs /d
hit <enter>, then type exit. This should clear it.
