2.1 Install Help PLEASE
I know and understand that Movie Maker 2.1 is included in SP2, BUT I
am still having trouble.
I installed SP2 when it first came out, years ago. I never got MM - it
never appeared in the Programs list, or in Add/Remove Windows
Components section, etc. - not to be found. There was no Movie Maker
volder in Program Files.
I check on two other XP PCs that I have that were both upgraded to
SP2, and there is no Movie Maker in those either.
I tried using Windows Update (as I do frequently) but nothing is
pending. SO, I decided to download 2.0 and THEN see if Windows Update
would try to update it. Again, nothing.
So, I am in a state where I have SP2, don't have MM 2.1, and can't
seem to force Windows Update to get it.
Any help appreciated.
Thanks, Bob

start
all programmes
accessories
It's not a seperate programme so doesn't appear in programme files or add
remove programmes.

Thnank you Graham, but its not there, never was, and never was in my
two other PCs also.
I have an inkling of the problem, perhaps.
Since I had 3 PCs, rather than download SP2 from Windows Update, I
downloaded the update file, which was
WindowsXP-KB835935-ENU.EXE
from the MS website. is it possible that upgrading in that way did NOT
include MM, and if so how can I correct it?
BTW, I do have the official MS SP2 CD, but I did not see anything
there to just install MM - I wouldn't want to reinstall SP2 (and then
all the subsequent fixes) again.
Thanks, Bob

Maybe the following link will be useful:
What can I do if I upgrade to Windows
XP SP2 and Windows Movie Maker 2.1
is not installed successfully?

Bob, I think Graham is right and that you are looking in the wrong place.
You mention you looked in your program list, and in add/remove, and in your
programs folders; which means you didn't understand that it is not a
separate program, but is located in your 'accessories'.....look
again...'start' 'all programs'
'accessories', and if not listed there it is probably in the
'entertainment' line.
Good luck. If its still not there follow John's suggestion.

Thanks John. There was enough information to enable me to make it
happen.
But I still have the question as to why it wasn't originally
installed. Oh well. another problem never solved.
Thanks much for your help.

Your welcome and thank you for the update.
Sorry, I have no idea why MM2.1 wasn't originally installed...

I'm not sure why it wasn't installed either unless, like you said, it wasn't
in the file you downloaded.
But I have a feeling it may have to do with the fact that you think you
updated to SP2 years ago when it hasn't even been out that long.
