Crashes on multiple folder openings

Running Windows XP media and have begun to crash when I try to open multiple
folders from Start. If I have a folder already open, in other words, and try
to open another by going to Start>My Computer>Documents, for example, Windows
reports a problem (but no error number) and crashes me back to an empty
screen. I've tried system restore to no avail.

Any advice on how to look for the solution?

Thanks.

To repair all system files, go to Start/Run, and type: SFC /SCANNOW

Mark,

Thanks for the help. I did the scan and it told me it had to load files into
the DLL cache and to insert the Windows XP Professional CD2 disk. I don't
have such a disk and never have. All my Windows software came preloaded. I
have a reinstall XP MCE disk from Dell but that's it. Any further suggestions?

Thanks!
