Connect the Line Out of the camcorder to the Line In of the soundcard. if
you've already done that, ensure that Line In is not set to Mute.

Thanks Cari, I've done all that and still no sound. I've played with all the
different configurations, plugged into different plugs with different cord,
done everything I could think of but still no sound.

Maybe Movie maker is not compatible with your analogue equipment, it is
designed for digital capture via firewire. You might have to buy an analogue
to digital convertor or analogue capture card and us it's software? Did you
get any with whatever you are connecting the cam to at the moment?

I experience the same situation during recording, no ability to monitor. .
However, the sound is present upon playback.

MM does not monitor the audio during capture, so this is normal
