What is the exact model number?

More than likely your DVD player supports "Windows Media" and HighMAT - that
is WMA, but not WMV.

I searched Panasonic's website.
They have many (obviously) DVD players that support WMA but not one listed
that supports WMV.
Also did a google search: "Home DVD players with WMV support"
You guessed it, the only hits were either wrong, porn, or DVD playing
software but not one that pointed me to a DVD player that supports WMV
playback.
