I was wondering if anyone would know why on some (not all) games, the
graphics are to high to see the entire game. there is about a 2 to 3 inch
black space at the bottom of my screen. If the game cannot be played in a
window We cannot play it. It is not something that i can pull down. I have
had this problem every since I bought this computer. It is a Sony VAIO PCV-RS
430G. when i first got it i called Sony support and they said it was probably
something wrong with the game but i have found quite a few games with that
problem. any help would be appreciated Thanks, momxsix2

It sounds like the game's implementation of directx and the directx
implementation of your display drivers are not on the same wavelength.

Check for updates for the games.

You could try updating your display drivers. If you have SP2 installed, you
have the most recent directx version. If no SP2, directx could be updated
too.

Even with updated games, drivers and directx, the problem may persist. In
that case, check the game's menus or the shortcuts in its start menu folder
a little closer. There usually a way (menus or extra utility) to switch
from "hardware" to "software emulation." The software emulation is not as
demanding on hardware and may be more successful at displaying the game
correctly.
