When I import video onto the timeline, the audio isnt seperate!

When I import video onto the timeline, the audio isnt seperate! How do i
seperate the video and audio clips so i can mute the audio? I use movie maker
on another computer and i never had this problem

What type of file are you putting on the timeline, dv-avi/WMV/Mpeg?

Its just captured video...i guess mpeg.....but it all appears as one video
clip on the timeline

1) Select the clip whose audio you want to "mute"
2) In the "Clip" menu navagate to "Audio" and check "Mute" from the sub-menu.
