Movie Maker

I am trying to do what should be a simple task - but to no success. Simply
want to capture video taken by my Hitachi DVD Camcorder on a DVD RAM disk and
capture it into Movie Maker. From there, I simply want to burn a DVD. I
keep gettinmg a message saying "A capture device was not detected." I have a
USB hooked up to my camcorder and to a USB plug in the back of my Dell
Dimension 8400 (less than a year old). Am I missing something here? Is
there any reason the Hitachi might not be compatible with Movie Maker?
Please help. Very frustrated.

We have already explained in the Video newsgroup that you cannot capture
from a DVD in that fashion.
You must put the DVD itself in your DVD drive in your PC and use third party
software to convert the VOB files to MPEG.

Thank you for responding. Do you know what the process would be to do this?
I'm not sure what a VOB file is. Do I just put the mini DVD in my DVD drive
and then use some software? If so, what software? This whole process is
ridiculously complicated.

The Hitachi FAQ states that after finalizing...
(which is done in the camera)...the DVD will
play in 95% of home DVD players and PC
DVD drives.
Software of the type at the following link will
allow you to edit and / or copy your DVD.
http://ww2.nero.com/enu/index.html
If you have a DVD burner installed in your
computer, you should already have some
software that would accomplish the task of
copying the Hitachi DVD.
Maybe you can find help at the following link:
