Slow Shutdown

Whenever I am ready to shut the pc down, it seems to take an extremly long
hang time before it eventually shuts down. I have run virus scans, adware
checks, and spyware checks, and all are clean. This happens even if I have
not loaded any extra folders, files, or programs.
Anyone ever had same problem??

---Thanks for any help ----

Hi,

Before shutting down, hit ctrl+shift+escape and selective begin to shut down
excess running processes. Then try to shutdown, see if it takes less time.
Keep shutting down a few at a time to see if you can isolate which one is
causing the delay. Post back with which one is.

See section "SHUTDOWN WORKS, BUT IT'S REAL SLOW"

Isolate the problem by clean-booting the system.

Hey guys ... sorry I haven't posted earlier ... have been out of town.
In regards to the "shutdown" both suggestions seem to have helped. There
was one site that warns it will delete the "system restore" when using.
Usually the first thing I do is to click on and bring up the Task Manager,
have used this method at times to exit programs ... some programs have to
keep hitting on one or more, but when stopped programs that way does seem to
go for a quicker shut down.
Thanks for the replies and information from both of you.
