I also have this problem but I did not install anything except windows xp
update. when I tried to click onto 2 icons on my desktop for programs which
worked without a problem a few days ago, I got that message and now they will
not work at all.

copy autoexec.nt from c:\windows\repair then paste it to
c:\windows\system32.
