The TRV480 has versatility but has some limitations. On a sunny day,
both the B/W pop-up viewfinder and the LCD may be hard to see. The
combination of LCD display with touch screen controls creates a delicate
and fragile element that might result in an expensive repair.
For those editing movies this one may be a good choice. Although it is
on the shelf in Wal Mart its not a rugged user friendly camera for a
tourist.
The camera alone is moderately priced but comes without case or firewire
and comes with a limited capacity battery which won't film very long
with LCD in use.
The user can bypass a lot of the complexity by using the EASY mode
buttom which set focus, exposure and such on default and automatic
adjustments.
The tape shot outdoors produced sharp images, even with the powerful
zoom at max.
