OS Windows XP Pro SP 2 - US
During a security scan (AntiVir) I received 3 times following warnings
"BDS/PcClient.A.ac.2 ( Backdoor Trojan?)" on the following files:
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\Wextract.exe (Win32 Cabinet Self-Extractor)
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\dllcache\Wextract.exe
C:\WINDOWS\ServicePackFiles\i386\Wextract.exe
I deleted those files but for repairing I had to enter the xp cd and I
received a warning that
it was a wrong cd. I had to use the cd XP SP2.
Bad luck I had only the XP Pro cd and the updates SP 1 & SP 2 came thru
Windows Update (Internet).
What is the best solution for the reinstall of those deleted files?
* Using cd XP Pro in safe mode and R (repair) without removing SP 2 Update
or
sfc/scannow
or
* Remove SP2 Update and reinstall SP2 update again thru internet?
Afterwards I found (Google & Copernicus) that I had made a wrong decision
to delete those files.
It was a false alarm by checking different sources.
Help and advice appreciated! Tia
