I have spent many hours the past few days creating a slideshow with WMM.
It contains 400 pictures, 10 songs, and several captions. It lasts 44
minutes and I can watch it in WMM with no problem. However, when I
save it as a Windows Media Player file, it will not play completely
through in WMP. It will play for around 29 minutes, and then it sticks
on a particular picture while the audio continues to play. PLEASE
HELP. I need to get this done ASAP.

I also have spent numerous hours creating a slideshow w/wmm. I had to split
the files at the songs. if you open your file then save as a different name.
then cut your file in half -Copy and paste and set up a new file or delete
part of it and save it as another name. I have one long song on one file
and 2 on another file. They both saved fine. I have spent hours trying to
save. Unfortunately I don't think wmm is capable of a large file. However,
if anyone knows of how to do it, I would love to know in the next 2 weeks

That is likely the answer. The slideshow is simply too complex to save
properly.
It is also possible that there's a corrupt clip or unsupported filetype but
I would definitely go with Cardiz's answer before exploring that
possibility.
I would like to add though that if your project is all still images, audio,
and transitions then you may want to check out Photo Story 3 from Microsoft.
It is free and is designed for slideshows such as your describing.
