program wont run under windows XP w/ more than 1 GB memory

I bought some software that came with a troubleshooting alert that read "The
program wont run under Windows XP and 2000 on systems with 1GB or more of
memory." And it gives instructions on how to change the virtual memory
settings in order to get it to work. However, these settings dont work so I
was wondering if it would be possible to convert the software into something
that will work under XP.

Thank you

For Virtual Memory issues, see this excellent reference at Aumha.org by Alex
Nichol.

I am curious as to whether the issue is real or virtual memory. What
program is this ?? and who publishes it ?

It is some neurophysiology training software created by www.moberg.com

Where do they have the technical requirements for the software?
How much physical RAM does your pc have?

Can you post back with their "instructions" for memory requirements?

One way of working around this would be to:

1. Use Start - Run - MSCONFIG. Go to the BOOT.INI tab and click on
the "Advanced options" button. In the Advanced options window click
on the checkbox for the /MAXMEM= line to select it and then enter a
value of less than 1 gb, such as 800 (for 800 mb) in the dialog box
for that line.

2. Shutdown and Restart the computer to put the memory limitation into
effect. Run the program.

3. When you have finished using the program you could go back into
MSCONFIG and undo the changes made in step 1. Then reboot the
computer again so as to have the full amount of the installed memory
available.

Good luck
