Saving edited .wmv contents

Hello,

I have a .wmv file that is the result from a MS live meeting recording
session. I need to have some pieces stripped out of there i.e. an x-amount of
seconds in both the beginning as well as the end of the original movie.

I am able to use Movie Maker 2.1 flawlessly to do the editing stuff so that
I finally end up with the movie contents I want it to in there (it replays it
without any problem).

When I try to save the edited movie file at the end (I save it to disk using
the proposed (recommended) format), after having gone through the options to
finally kick off the save operation, it presents me with the normal progress
dialog in which the 'amount of minutes to finish' keep growing indefinitely
(I cancelled out at moment when it was telling me that it would take 10000+
minutes to save a 98 MB converted content, it had save about 300 kB after
having run 45 minutes or so) ...
During the save operation, I had a look at the 'system vitals' where I could
see that they were all 'steady' (CPU usage : almost 100% idle, no (movie
maker) memory usage, no disk IO)

Could someone help me out with this situation please ?
