my friend had recently visited questionable websites with my computer and
after that everytime i start windows, explorer.exe quits with the error
"Explorer has caused an error and needs to close. We're sorry for the
inconvienence" when i click the ok button, it restrats and does the same
thing and this goes on in an infinite loop rendering my computer useless.
Details of error:
App Name: Explorer.exe
App: 6.0.2800.0000
Mod Name: unknown
Mod ver: 0
i ran 2 antivirus programs with updated definition in the 'documents and
settings' and 'windows' folders. viruses were found and deleted. i ran sfc
/scannow in the command prompt, i even did a repair install(windows xp wasnt
detected, so i chose the upgrade option) but the problem continues. at this
point i'm running out of options and i dont want to do anything drastic on my
own and make things worse. so if anybody can help i would really appreciate
it. i had windows xp with sp1 but i suspect that it had reverted back to the
original version of windows xp after i did the repair install.
