I am also have the same problem. Made the movie (avi). It will not even
play omy laptop keeps telling me I have a bad disk or cannot read disk.
Tried it on newer DVD player and it said bad disk. I am using DVD+R How do
I get the DVD to play on my DVD player

You can't just burn the AVI file onto a DVD disk and play it in your DVD
player.
To do this you need DVD authoring software. There's a list of several
popular programs I have personally tried on my website in the "DVD Programs"
section.
As far as why it won't play on your laptop I am not sure of the cause there.
What program or method did you use to burn the AVI onto the disk?
