Cable Modem Won't Run In XP

I have an old 1999 PC that was running Win ME. I reformatted it to XP Pro.
It works fine on my DSL modem. Just plugged in the LAN plug and was browsing
the Internet. But when I tried using Comcast cable it won't work. Under
Network Connections I tried to set up a local area connection but it allows
me to go through the steps but doesn't show the connection. What do I do?

I just did a standard install. I figured the card would be detected and the
drivers installed. How do I load these "Xp drivers for the network card?"

Steve, rt click MyComputer>select Properties>Hardware>Device
Manager>Network Adaptors expand and it should
show you what card or Motherboard device you are using. If there's a
yellow mark next to it then it needs drivers.
Post back here what you find out and I will be glad to assist you.
