my START menu is "locked up." At first I was able to get into everything
other than Help and Support and Run. Now it's dead stopped. I've done some
bang up jobs in the past. This takes the cake.
Thank you for whatever advice you can give. I ran the Easy Cleaner
fix_windows that's listed. Did not correct the problem.

I don't believe your situation is very good at the moment, but I guess you're
aware of that.
Suggestions:-
See if you can get into safe mode - and try "last known good configuration".
Other suggestion - repair install.
