[Invalid Argument]

Keeping a very interested eye on this thread, as I am having the same
error message (not all the time, I would say about 75% of the times I
restart my computer) on a Dell Inspiron 9200 laptop.

Try to uninstall WinXP hotfix KB887742 a reinstall it from
windowsupdate..
