Out of Scan Range

Hello,

My wife got herself on a website last night that downloaded a bunch of
crap on our computer, mostly adware and spyware, I think. To make a
long story short, in the process of following instructions on getting
rid of it, I tried to start my computer in SAFE MODE and when I tried,
the screen turned black with a window that says "Out of Scan Range" and
under that it says 35.5Khz/86Hz. Here the problem...no matter how I
try to start my computer now, I get this message, except in VGA mode
where it comes up in safe mode but brings up a CMD.EXE window with a
prompt that says C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator. I have been
working on just getting back to a normal Windows display the entire day
and haven't even begun to address my spyware/adware program. Does
anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks,
Jeff

From SAFE mode, reinstall the video driver, then configure it to only
run at 60HZ until you can reset it.

Out of scan range means the refresh rate is too high - 86hz.
