Importing mpeg file

I am new to using Movie Maker. I tried to import some mpeg files to Movie
Maker that I had captured using neoDVD.
An error message comes up saying that the file is not valid not valid
"because it does not contain any information."
However, I can use Windows Media Player to view those files with no problem.
What do I need to do ? Is there some setting that need to be done first ?

Thanks

Convert the MPEG-2 files to AVI files, and then use the AVI files in Movie
Maker.

For some ideas about how to convert, see the Importing Source Files > Video
> MPEG-2, Discs, and Recorded TV pages of my website at www.papajohn.org

Can you please let me know how you convert the MPEG-2 files to AVI files
using Movie Maker? In your website, you just say your prefer to use Mover
Maker to convert, but did not say how. I could'nt find a command for
converting files in Movie Maker, and as I said in my original post, I
couldn't import the file. So how do you convert the file.

Thanks

There isn't a command to do it... it's all about what codecs exist on a
system and which ones work well enough with Movie Maker to at least get
through a conversion.

First I try to import the file as a single clip... and move it to the
timeline... if I get that far, I'll try saving it as a DV-AVI or WMV file.
If it works, that's the conversion process. If it doesn't work, I'm into
using other software.
