Screensaver is closing applications

I've seen this same problem posted by several other people, but they had
little or no response to solve it.

Occasionally when I return from a screensaver, Windows will attempt to
close the right-most program in the taskbar. If the program requires
confirmation on exit, it won't close, but it will close right away
otherwise.

This problem just began happening in the last week.

Thanks, John

This behavior (obviously) should not normally happen. Where did you get this screensaver? or is it from standard Windows?
Suspect you 'may' have a parasite. Especially if it turns off your antivirus, suspect a parasite for sure.

First of all, disable the screensaver. Screensavers are not needed.
I recommend an article at Aumha.org on ways to cleanup parasites.
Follow the quick-fix protocol.

Here are 2 tools from SysInternals that may help you get an insight on what's running.
Autoruns (checks & shows what's set to auto-load at Windows startup)

First, I've heard of this. What is the program, btw?

It could be any program. I've searched a lot of other forums, and all fingers
point to Microsoft Intellipoint 5.2 software: as soon as people revert to
Intellipoint 5.0, that particular problem goes away. I have not tried it, but
if I do and succeed, I'll report back here.
