Hi,

I just bought a Western Digital harddisk (WD800JB) and i can't get the
DMA 4 at least that is the maximum that my motherboard can support even

if my HD can do UDMA 5. I would like to know if it is possible to get
driver for HD because i went to the WD website and there's no driver
for HD. When i use Everest it say that the driver is drive.inf and is
dated from 2001-07-01 and published by Microsoft. Is the only thing i
can update the IDE controller or is there other thing i can do?

Thanks!

Drivers are from the motherboard maker or the motherboard chipset maker.

For Intel chipset based motherboards: you need the Intel Chipset
drivers and the Intel Application Accelerator program.
Via : you need the
VIA 4 in 1 Hyperion drivers
nVidia : you need the
nVidia drivers

and use an 80 wire/40 pin Ultra DMA IDE ribbon cable.

Well i went to the PCChips website and i can't figure out what model to
download because it's not clear.
I have :
62-0510-009999-00101111-071595-000000$M758LMRE_RELEASE 05/10/2001S

which is a PCChips M758LMRE

you can go to this site and select Socket 370 (Intel P3) then tried to
figure out which model to choose so you can download the right bios.
:oP I just can't find it out! Thanks in advance!

About the Chipset, it's a SiS 630.

Bios: American Megatrends Inc. (AMI)

So can you help me more with all this info?

Thanks a lot!

check your cable....is it a 40 wire or is it an 80 wire IDE cable connecting
the Drive to the MOBO.
I believe you will need an 80 wire to achieve that speed.
Check your BIOS settings to see if the setting is at DMA4(UDMA66)

It's so much easier to suggest solutions when you don't know too much about
the problem
