Trying Again ... MM2 Hangs during Capture

Ok, here's my problem. I have a Gateway 3 gHz 512RAM computer
running Windows XP media edition. I have a JVC GR-D270U camcorder (and
even a new Belkin Firewire to go with it all). After I get the video onto
the camcorder, I follow all of the instructions for firewire transfer (turn
on computer, turn on camcorder to playback function, plug in firewire) and
the computer immediately recognizes the camcorder, brings up MovieMaker
(version 2). I have tried to capture both automatic and capture specfic
times to no avail. It almost always starts fine, but within 5-6 minutes of
playback, the capture screen freezes as does the counter (and the capture
itself ends at this time). The playback controls for the camcorder (on the
capture screen of MM2) work but no video is being captured. It also occurs
using
WinDV.
The Gateway has SP2 installed and I am unsure of the firewire card as it
came with the computer. This should be simple...but it isn't turning out
that way.

Any ideas?
