Hi, I run Windows XP SP2 (Which is completely up-to-date) and have a Toshiba
CD-RW and DVD-RW combi drive. I've used it store backups of my files and
recently everytime I try to record to any type of CD an error message appears
saying the disk is either full or unuseable and to try another disk - which I
have. I've also tried disks from different manufacturers and changed the
recording speed to minimum but the device still displays the error. When I
click on properties and hardware it says the device is working correctly, and
when I click check for driver updates it says that the drivers are
up-to-date. I usually use Windows to record to a CD but have also used Sonic
RecordNow which makes no difference. Also I cannot erase data from a RW disk
although Windows tells me it's erased and shows that there is nothing on the
disk when its window is opened. The data is still their if I re-insert the
disk. If anyone can help it would be much appreciated.

Hi;
Sure looks like the drive itself is kaput.

If I remember correctly the problem did happen after instaling SP2. Thank
you this helps me alot, and I'll think about uninstalling SP2 unless anyone
knows of another way to resolve the problem?
