Hi All
I recently bought a Radeon 9600SE AGP Graphics Card. I am having
difficulty installing it. My PC is running Win XP Home Edition and my
motherboard is an MSI 745 Ultra. When I
try to install from the disc I get the following message.

"Severe"
Setup was unable to complete the installation"

The Video Controllers show up in 'Other Devices' and the properties of

them show the drivers as not Digitally Signed. I have set the computer

to accept drivers which are not Digitally Signed.
If I try to setup through Add New Hardware I get the following message

‘Cannot install this hardware There was a problem installing this
hardware Radeon 9600 Series An error occurred during the installation
of this device Access is denied’.

I have a Radeon 7500 which I tried to install with the same results.
When I try to install the card it shows up in the device manager as
being disabled. When I enable it and restart the computer as
instructed the device is once again disabled. When I right click on my

desktop to get the display properties, select Settings, Advanced,
Adapter, Properties, Resources the VgaSave Properties show the
resources have a conflict and lists the following as the conflicting
device.
Input/Output Range 03B0 - 03BB used by:
SIS Accelerated Graphics Port
Input/Output Range 03C0 - 03DF used by:
SIS Accelerated Graphics Port
Memory Range 000A0000 - 000BFFFF used by:
SIS Accelerated Graphics Port
I and am unable to change the resource settings as this option is
greyed out.
I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling resetting the Bios to
default and disabling any unused ports such as serial, game etc.
I hope this makes sense.
Any help would be greatly appreciated
Regards
smcg

Did you not try disabling the SiS integrated graphics in the BIOS before you
tried to install the separate AGP card?

If you have been running an on-board video controller, disable it in device
mgr.,
then shut down computer,install card,start computer,once in xp,disable on
board again, and install drivers/software from ati.com.Youre best bet is the
set with control-panel catalyst,after installation,restart computer,you may
also
need to disable on board in the BIOS,but not always.
