ABSOLUTELY! I did exactly this the other day. Since Movie Maker doesn't
allow me to burn to DVD, I used NERO to burn the almost 26 GIGABYTE DV (.avi)
file to NERO. Nero does an excellent job at automatically shrinking it down
to my 4.7 GB DVD. Just use the NERO Vision Express part and select the "Make
DVD Movie" option. Then browse for the file and import it. Make your NERO
titles and such and BURN, BABY , BURN! Hope it helps!

Yep, playable in most standalone DVD players if your player can read DVD+/-R
media that you choose to use. I too use NERO VisionExpress to do this. Works
great!

Again, yes, it will be playable on most dvd players, at least most new dvd
players. As long as you use the Make DVD Video feature. i'm doing that as
we speak, moviemaker rocks! If they'd only make it where I can burn the
movie file DIRECTLY to the DVD instead of CD! Sheez, this is the 21st
century!

I was looking for the exact words Make DVD Movie--and didn't find it on my
nero Vision Express--so I'm trying it on Make Video DVD--is that the right
option?
Sorry I'm so dull

It's a Microsoft thing. For whatever reason they didn't decide to integrate
working with DVD's into anything.
Hence the reason I can drag and drop and use windows Explorer to burn CD's
whenever I want but can't do the same with DVD's.
I think they'll see the error in their thinking on this subject eventually,
I hope so anyway.

Aaahh, I see. I guess I missed something there. You need the dvd plug in
from Nero to be able to burn DVDs. Yeah, once you buy something, you think
you've got it all, but then they say you need to spend a little more $ to do
more. Without the dvd burning plug in , you won't be able to burn DVDs.
That's been the problem all along. When you've installed the plug in, all
those commands will be there when you're using nerovision express.
sorry about the confusion. I think you can download the plug in from
nero.com.
Here's the link:
http://ww2.nero.com/enu/DVD_Video_Plug_In.html
However, the site says Nero 6.6 already has this plug in on the cd that came
with nero in the box.
Good luck.

the pictures----now I have a full DVD but---is there any way to know how many
transitions youcan use without having this happen??

Not really since it seems to vary depending on so many different things such
as file types and lengths.
There doesn't seem to be a set number of transitions you can use it just
seems that sometimes a project is just too complex for movie maker.
When this does happen there is an easy way to fix it though.
Create half your movie and then the other half. Import the new clips into
movie maker and drag them to the timeline to combine the two clips and
create THAT movie.
You now have your movie completed even though doing it all in one step was
too complicated for Movie Maker.
