Hello... I have the same problem with a Toshiba laptop. I actually did a
complete reinstall, and I still have the same problem : no com port /
and trying to install it leads nowhere. Did you solve your problem?

You might try looking in the BIOS setup for your laptop to see if you
can enable the serial port. It may also be that your laptop has no
serial ports. Many new laptops do not come with serial ports however
you can easily add them by using a USB to RS232 serial adapter. They
are available for around $25.00 at any computer or office supply
store.
If you need a multi port add-on serial adapter that connects through a
USB port then you might try the following web page:
