:confused: This weird problem just started happening. I have XP Service
Pack 2 and have had no problems till now. I have a Gateway 2.8 ghz
system with 1 gig ram. After I shut down my system, about a minute or
two later the thing just restarts by itself! Yesterday it happened only
about 30 seconds after shutdown. Today it happened about 2 minutes
after. Everything else seems fine. Any ideas?? Thanks.

Look in your bios for the WOL (Wake on Lan) setting, is it enabled?
Unless you need it, you can turn this off. Also look at modem
properties if you're on a dial-up, for any setting that would trigger a
Wake on Lan call.
