I have been trying hard enough to see if i can set this problem right,to
my bad luck nothing works. Till recently I was able to listen to all
kinds of vidoes and music tracks (but it would suddenly stop and i
would restart the comp to get the sound back) now it completely denies
to play. I get different error messages like:

1. A device ID has been used that is out of range for your system. -
when i try playing songs in winamp.

2.Sound Recorder cannor record or play back because a sound device is
not installed. To install a sound device, go to Control Panel, click
Printers and other Hardware, and then click Add Hardware - when i try
to record sound.

I tried my best, surfed the net for hours in vain. checked the device
manager nothing shows an error, checked all the connections ..... mute
, unmute everything i know. but:( no use somebody help me please

You are probably using an incompatible sound card. If you are using
Windows XT the cound card you use has to be compatible. If it's on the
compatiblility list, download the latest drivers and try, again!
