Hi
My sound card suddenly stopped working yesterday. As far as I know I've
done nothing wrong with it. I checked the volume options etc.. all of
them are correct. There are no conflicts with hardware. Could it be
broke?
Please help
I'm on windows XP

Use the mainboard CD to re-instate sound drivers, or visit the mainboard
manufacturer website and dowmload the latest drivers..

Still doesn't work.
Could it be broke?
But that would be strange, It's a new computer (3 days old). When I
plug my speakers into my iPod there is sound so my speakers aren't
broke.

(sorry for my english, I'm from belgium)

Are you sure its the soundcard and not a set of blown speakers?

Since it is a new computer, there might be some little trick to getting the
sound back (I believe you said it did work at first?) Contact the
responsible party for support.
In addition, I noticed in one of your screenshots that there was a "test"
button. Have you tried it? Also, uninstall the audio driver, reboot, install
audio driver, roboot, if you have not yet done so. Can we assume that your
audio looks OK in the Device Manager?
Device Manager:
Winkey+Break
Hardware tab

Another consideration is that some modern soundcards can dynamically
reassign ports -- It could be that the ports aren't set correctly.

Everything in the device manager is okay. I'm reinstalling my drivers
now. When I plug my earphones in the computer they don't work either.
Any more suggestions? (I've checked BIOS settings also, they are
correct.)

This link should help.
http://www.annoyances.org/exec/forum/winxp/t1066427444

Make sure you read ALL of the posts. There are at least 3 different
ways to fix this problem. Many people have spent hours and days with
this issue.

and someone asked me if I had the AC'97 Soundmax applet, I really don't
know what it is ...
