I went to turn on my computer and it made a snap, crackle & pop sound.

Something audibly loud sounded off in my computer as I went to boot up.

Any ideas? I'm lost

You should not eat Rice Crispy cereal near your computer.
Did it boot up? From what you said it just made noise, but
I suppose that it did not boot because it blew some
circuitry and that is what you heard. What smells did you
notice? Did you see or smell smoke or any acrid odor?

It did not boot up. I could not make out any types of odors. This is very
odd. I have no idea what this may be. My warranty expired in March.

What are some possible problems? Or should I ask, what inside would cause
that type of sound?

AS another said, send it back to Gateway, they still might
honor the warranty. Call them on the phone and ask to speak
with a CSR supervisor. You should a get a return
merchandise number/ticket.
