Fat32

gotcha

Hi to all. I have just purchased a 40 GB External hard drive, it has
been formatted in NTSF I want to format it in Fat32, I have
instructions from the manufacturer how to do it, etc. No problem but
when I come to the said disk, it says unallocated, and when I right
click on it, it says, new partition. What do I do now to get it
formatted into Fat32.
Any ideas please? Thank you.

Easy -
Step 1: Launch diskmgmt.msc (Start / Run / diskmgmt.msc {OK}
Step 2: Create a FAT32 partition on your external disk.
Step 3: Format it.

if you are using XP
disk management will not allow you to create a fat32 drive over 32 gigs.
best to leave it as NTFS...
otherwise you will need to use a 3rd party utility...
or format it on a win9x machine

Just go to bootdisk.com and download a dos floppy image. Create a floppy
with the file, boot and run fdisk and format.

The DOS boot disk is unlikely to recognise the external hard disk.
