notebook + win xp pro = Fan always on

I have installed win xp pro SP2 on my new acer aspire notebook and the
outcome is that the fan is always on (which was not the case with the
pre-installed xp home).
I need xp pro but the fan is on top of the keyboard and really noisy.
With the preinstalled version it was on only when I was recording cd's,
playing 3d games, etc.

Any suggestions?

Your problem pertains more to your Acer than to XP.
Acer may have a solution.

How do you use the keyboard? Since "the fan is on top of the
keyboard" isn't it in the way of the keys? Oh, and I bet it's noisy,
as it's probably causing the keys under it to rattle.

If you don't have something constructive to say then shut the hell up.

Thanks for the replies. I finally worked it out.
It was more AMD than Acer, meaning that I had to install the drivers for the
AMD processor to enable a feature called "cool'n'quiet". After that, the fan
worked as before.
Thanks again for the replies.

P.S. to NobodyMan: "the fan is on top of the keyboard " actually means that
the fan is right above the keyboard. Sorry for my english, although I don't
see why I had to get such a reply.

Cool!
(and quiet)
Sorry about Mr. Nobody. He hangs out here dispensing bile on a regular
basis.
Then, he beats his dog for good measure.
