Network Woes After Upgrade

Hi,

One of the computers (XP Pro SP2) on our home LAN now gives

Workgroup is not accessible. You might not have permission ...
The list of servers for this workgroup is not currently available.

when I try an access via Network Connections.

I just upgraded one of the other computers to XP Pro from ME and
it connects to our laptop correctly. The problem computer can
print over the network (printer on upgraded computer) and access
the internet.

I have rerun the Network Setup Wizard and checked that the Guest
account is on. The network hasn't been accessed in months. The
only known changes that might affect networking are the upgrade
and adding a VPN to my wife's office about two months ago.

Turning the firewall off didn't help. Sharing is on for several folders.
Firewall says OK to connect.

Any help appreciated.

Thanks,
Gary

I have a similar problem.

One systen has a P4 and XP Pro w/SP2 and all updates. The other has a PIII
and XP Home w/SP2 and all updates. They are connected to each other via a
router and then to the web via a cable modem.

To get them to see each other I must boot the Home system first to a desktop
and verify it can 'see' the workgroup and itself. Then I boot the Pro system
and once it gets to the desktop I can then see Home from Pro and vice versa.
For now I have no idea why this startup procedure allows them to see each
other and the opposite does not.
