Drive Keeps Getting Remapped

Windows XP, SR2. I keep having the problem where a drive mapped to one
system get remapped to another system. My drive H: is mapped to one server's
folder \\HQSERVER\Shared. I just mapped it today. Later in the day I got a
popup message that came up from the task bar that said network drive could
not be mapped, it said click on this message to see drives. I click, the
explorer comes up and H: still says that it is mapped to HQSERVER, but when I
double-click H: it brings up the same folder name, but on another server
(GNMHQTRS).
I then cannot disconnect this H: drive, no matter what I do. Can anyone
think of what might be hosing me up here? Thanks.

Is this a domain? If so, then H: is always the first mapped network drive
of said domain, normally where your personal and/or shared documents reside,
some companies, even store the complete "Docs & Setting" folder along with
roaming profile data. My suggestion would be to map your HQSERVER\shared to
another mapped drive letter, maybe S:\ for shared or whatever.
Additionally, try to avoid using X, Y and Z on a domain machine also.

More info on what you're connecting to might help. I've never seen drive
letters just magically re-map themselves like that. Who runs the servers,
and have you asked them/your IT staff for help?

First, I am the system administrator, so I have no one else to go to. The
message I get before this phenomenon takes place is a popup from the task bar
that says,
Could not reconnect all network drives
After that my H: drive becomes connected to another folder. Originally the
H: drive was mapped to \\hqserver\shared. After the error, it becomes mapped
to \\gnmhqtrs\shared. Thus the H: drive is remapped to another server. I do
not know why this is happening. Changing the drive letter to something other
than H: is not a good solution as everyone on the net uses H: to point to
\\hqserver\shared.
Any help would be appreciated.
