I've been frustrated by the 0x8024502d error when doing a Windows Update on
one of the three computers on my local network. The others update just fine,
so I know it isn't the D-Link DI-707 (with firmware firewall). I trust it, so
I have both the Windows firewall and the Norton firewall disabled on all
three computers. I tried all the fixes that I found in this group and
elsewhere. No dice.

I began trying things at random, and this is the one that worked. Open
Norton Internet Security; open the Personal Firewall panel; turn ON the
firewall; move the slider to High, then Medium, then Low, then back to
Medium; turn OFF the firewall.

I can now do a Windows Update on this computer
