"my Computer"

For some unknow reason to me, my PC started acting very strange in respect to
response times; specifically when I click to enter into the "my computer"
area of the PC, it takes an extraordinary amount of time to find the
associated drives. I am running XP and have owned this laptop for a few
years, but only started seeing this issue today. Admittedly I was trying to
rearrange some of my files, i.e. delete unused applications, etc; however, I
am not sure what I could have touched to affect the performance or for this
slow response phenomena to occur...anyone have any ideas?

Thanks
