Windows XP and Windows 2000 seem very touchy about floppies, I don't know
why. You did the right thing by trying several disks, let's hope all will
work from now on.

I have actually found that XP and 2000 don't have issues with floppies, it is
that floppies themselves are a poor form of storage.

They are after all rust on a sheet of plastic.

Compound that with the fact that many people store them between thier
monitor and speakers and you have an EMI rooted recipe for data loss.

What you say is certainly true but there are issues in Win2k and XP. I'm one
who uses floppies a great deal and never one time inserted a known good
floppy and saw the "isn't formatted" message in Windows 3.0, 3.1, ME, NT 4.0
or Win98. It became very common as soon as I went to Win2k.

I've saved several unreadable floppies because the data on them might be
useful, I found they'll read perfectly if I run Windows 98 on the same
computer that won't read them with XP. If anyone knows why I'd be interested
in learning more about it....
