HP scanner problem

I have a k80 All in One that suddenly has a error message that reads,
"scanner failure". It has worked fine until now and I have tried alot of
things to get it to work. I have uninstalled and re-installed the software
and it still doesn't want to work. The printer part works just fine but the
scanner and copy portion doesn't. I have a feeling that it is a hardware and
not something else. I have also tried to go in and allow the scanner as an
exception in the firewall but can't get it to take the added script in the
line. I can't figure how to do it. H-P says I should add the line and see if
the firewall will allow pictures back to the computer. Any ideas would be
helpful and appreciated. Thanks, Mike

Providing you have a router between you and the internet, temporarily
disable the firewall to see if the problem lies in that area.

If you don't have anything between you and the internet, temporarily disable
the internet connection.

Start>Run>type DEVMGMT.MSC and click OK.
Scroll down to Imaging Devices and rightclick your HP psc*
and click Properties. Under the General tab, down to Device usage
click to Use this device (enable), and click OK. Try it again.
* If your HP k80 psc is not listed, it is not properly installed.

some days you're the bug.
