I tried that but when it rebooted it logged on under Administrator user
rather than my own configuration. Thank God I have Go-back installed. What
did I do wrong?

Hi Steve,

You are trying to attempt to create an autologon? I am guessing as you did
not quote the original text of the question, only of Ramesh's response and
both of them elude to this.

Click start/run, type "control userpasswords2" (without the quotes) and
click ok. In the user list, click on the user that you want to be the
default. Uncheck the box requiring a username and password, click apply/ok
and follow the prompts to set up a default logon.

I tried that and it isn't working. Maybe I'm not making myself clear. It's
not asking me for a password. When I starup or re-boot windows is going to
the sceen where you pick a user. But there's only one user so it makes no
sense for the screen to be coming up. It used to boot up right to the
desktop.

Have you gotten any Windows Updates lately? If so and one was .NET Framework
and after it installed, did you go back to Windows Updates to see if there
were anymore updates? There should be an update for that which would be .NET
Framework Service Pack 1. Install that and that will boot right up to the
Desktop.

What peterk <peterk@nomalarky.net> said to do should have also taken care of
it. Removing the check mark should do it even tho you don't have a password.
It is for user name and/or password and you wouldn't have your user name
appearing on the Welcome Screen.
