run wont run

when i go star-run, then type in any command, the run box will open then
close in about 2 seconds. anyone have any ideas why that happens?

Assuming you're referring to command line utilities: Because most command line programs are "run and terminate". Open the Command Prompt first, then enter the command there.

thanks, how do i open the command prompt. i never had to do that before,
all i used to do was open run, type in something , and it would happen.

thanks, thought something was missing, according to help and support, the
command prompt is start-programs-accessories. cept its not there on my
system, xp -pro,sp2

Well now that you know the command to run, create a shortcut in your menu
for a command prompt. :-)

R-click on it, pick Create Shortcut. (Also see Start, Help and Support,
Shortcuts)
