Hi, I apologize if I'm in the wrong NG for this. I searched and couldn't
find one about Lycos mail, and any other remotely related group had only a
few posts, sometimes months apart. Seems like there thousands here, and
hopefully someone can send me in the right direction.
I'm running XP Pro. I have a web email account at Lycos.com (USA). For the
last two weeks or so, I cannot get on to the account, I have several
browsers - IE6, Firefox 1.04, Netscape 7, Maxthon, and Netscape. In all I
get either a "Page cannot be displayed" or "Network Time Out" error message
depending on which browser. I do not recall changing anything or adding any
apps that would do this at this time. I don't remember what I ran a long
time ago, but it gets rid of ads on many web pages and the ads areas "cannot
be displayed". Then about a month ago or so, I noticed the familiar picture
of the girl not showing on the Lycos mail login page, as well as the Login
button, but I could mouse over where the button would be and I could click
and log on. Last couple of weeks I can't connect at all. What can I check
for? Is there a tweak in Win XP to allow more time to connect? I get the
error page within about 15 seconds. I also have cable Internet. I have a
Linksys router, but did not change anything there. I have tried everything I
could think of and what Lyco's (probably routine suggestions) email
suggested which I pasted below, thanks much:
