For about 4 years I have kept up to date with Windows Update. But for the
last week I find there are 9 critical updates but when I try to download &
install any of them they fail. Win XP SP2. I use "custom install"
Thanks for any help in advance.

You'll have to give us a bit more information than this.

Are you an administrator?

Do they fail with any error message?

Thanks for the prompt response. I am a one owner, one operator, one machine.
When I choose "custom install", I select one or more of the 9 available
updates
& click install . I immediately get a message that this download failed.
Then I
get another message that that update failed to install. Hope this narrows it
down some
