Hi, I hope you are doing well.

I have a Compaq Presario 1500 Laptop. I just replaced hard drive and when
formatting the drive the laptop shuts down about 7 percent into the boot. I
have tried this several times and the same thing happens. To begin with I was
getting the no operating system found message, so I replaced the hard drive.
Prior to replacing the hard drive and when it was working properly, the
system would shut down after running a few minutes during virus scans etc.

Does anyone have a clue as to what the problem is and what I can do to fix
it? I removed the battery and nothing changed.

Hi,

Sounds to me like the system is damaged, possibly an overheated component is
now failing regularly. This would be a job for a competent technician.

You have more hardware problems than just a bad hard drive. It could be
the RAM, the power supply, and/or the motherboard. Contact Compaq tech
support.
