Had a major problem with my pc, but now all is clean and working great.

I have Norton's Internet Security, Adaware and SpySweeper on it now. Do I
need to install any other protection?

Thank you..

Probably not, provided you keep those updated.

I make sure everything is updated and I scan completely every other day.

Don't forget to have Windows updates as well as keep all the installed

Hmmm! Should I also install Spyware Guard and Spyware Blaster? Isn't that
overkill?

One other question? Should I have Windows automatically update my pc, or
should I just have them download them and notify me?

I usually use the latter, as I want updates installed on my terms.

Hi Helen - I certainly would install _everything_ I listed from "You might
want to consider installing . . ." on. (That's why I listed them after all.
:) ) It certainly isn't overkill if you really want to protect your
machine. Specifically all four of the following:

IESpyAd
SpywareBlaster and supplements
SpywareGuard
and a good HOSTS file

As I said, "IESPYAD and SpywareBlaster (and the other malware-ActiveX
blocking lists) are probably the best preventive tools currently available,
expecially if supplemented by using the Immunize function in SpyBot S&D and
a good HOSTS file (see next)." My experience is that people who adopt at
least these minimal precautions, use a good firewall and AV, and stay
current on their Critical Updates are far, far less likely to wind up with
malware problems. However, I do also recommend running the various
detection and cleanup programs I mentioned on a regular basis to check
things. "Trust but verify!"

I have automatic updates turned off. Go to WU (or MU) occasionally and
do a custom install to see what updates are offered and choose only
those you want/need. MS releases most updates on the second Tuesday of
the month though occasionally important updates are put out in the
interim.
