All of a sudden, I am getting "this operation has been cancelled due to
restrictions in effect on this computer ..." when I try to run AIM. I did
some search and found something about Group Policy etc., but I can't see
anything being restrictied when I use gpedit.msc. Please advise. Thanks

I am an admin on my laptop. My company does not want people to use AOL's
AIM at work, but when I am at home I want to be able to use it. Thanks.

You just answered your own question. Your IT guys at work have sent
you a group policy which denies the use of the program.

Not much you can do about it. Especially if the company owns the
laptop. Cause if they own the laptop they can pretty well tell you
exactly what you can and can't run on it and there ain't much you can
do about it.
