This is just a guess, but many programs will wait until an Internet
connection is present to check for updates. Things like Windows
Automatic Updates, Virus definitions, etc. Most ISP's have a
status indicator in the System Tray that shows network traffic. If
you connect, do the two small monitor icons light up ? while the
PC seems to be unresponsive. How long does this "Pause" last.
Also which ISP do you dial into ?

All my ISP will have this problem. Like singnet narrowband, broadband and
pacific Net narrowband. It will show the two monitor when it is connected.
But only the mouse will respond but when i click any programs at the quick
launch it will not open. Including the start button

Spyware is also a possibility, as are Trojans. Your

It could well be that your computer has been compromised and that the first
few minutes it is being accessed via a remote computer. This can be caused
by virus's, spyware, trojans etc. Are you running the latest version of a
competent software package?

Please follow these steps"

Install a good firewall - one that blocks unwanted outbound traffic as well
as unwanted inbound traffic. Then when something tries to connect, out of
the ordinary, you will be flagged. At that point you can disallow that
particular instance either once or permanently. A good FREE firewall is
available here:
http://www.zonelabs.com/store/content/catalog/products/sku_list_za.jsp?lid=dbtopnav_za

Then check you system for infestations of viruses, spyware, dialers, key
loggers etc.

Download, install, update and run the following:

If you don't have any antivirus installed, AVG Antivirus (free) from
http://free.grisoft.com/doc/2/lng/us/tpl/v5

Ad-Aware (free) from http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware/

SpyBot Search and Destroy (free) from
http://www.safer-networking.org/en/download/index.html

Microsoft Anti Spyware (free) from
http://www.microsoft.com/athome/security/spyware/software/default.mspx

Don't ever go clicking things just because a web site, e-mail, popup or
rogue desktop tells you to! If you are not 101% certain what an action will
do - don't perform that action. Control your clicking finger!

its a new notebook and i have no other software installed yet.so there is a
no possibility of spyware because if i connect using ethernet connection it
works fine. only when i use dial up it give me this kind of problem. And more
ideas?
